What is a Toe Kick

Toe kick refers to the small recessed area in between your kitchen or bathroom base cabinets and the floor they sit on. Depending on the size of your cabinets, a toe kick is traditionally 4" high. A thin piece of wood veneer or MDF particle board is installed over the bottom of the base cabinets in this area to cover any gaps between the cabinet and the floor. This piece of toe kick board is the same color of the cabinet and applied throughout the kitchen along the bottom of the base cabinets. The toe kick space is designed to allow you stand next to your base cabinets without your toes banging into the bottom of the cabinet.
