What is a Refacing

Refacing is a term that refers to kitchen cabinets. Instead of replacing your kitchen cabinets entirely, refacing is a technique where an exterior veneer is added to your existing cabinets in order to provide an updated look. Refacing your kitchen cabinets includes covering the exposed cabinet frames with a thin veneer of real wood

or a new plastic laminate. This veneer or covering will match the doors and drawer fronts that are replaced on your existing cabinets. New hardware, pulls, hinges and other accessories are also applied as needed. Typically, refacing your cabinets is an inexpensive way to provide the same updated look that new cabinets provide. However, it's worth noting that warping or damaged cabinets are not good candidates for refacing since the core of the cabinet is not improved or impacted by the refacing process.
