What is Ash Wood?

If you are planning on creating kitchen cabinets yourself, some points need addressing. Ash wood is a hardwood that you should not sand with fine grit sandpaper before staining. The surface of ash wood is resistant to absorption. Builders should not exceed 220-grit sandpaper when sanding before adding a darker stain.  If a light stain is applied, then we recommend sanding with 320-grit sandpaper for the final sanding. Failure to follow this recommendation can cause ash wood cabinets to appear blotchy. To avoid the hassle, we feel that it's best to look into purchasing already made cabinetry.
