What is a No-Mortise

Since the term mortise refers to holes or recesses cut into a part, a No-Mortise refers to hardware that doesn't require any cuts or holes in the wood to attach hinges. This no-mortise style of hardware allows for faster, simpler installation of door hinges.

In addition to ease of use, no-mortise hinges offer several other advantages. They are typically thinner than most standard hinges, which allows for a smaller gap in between cabinet box and cabinet doors. They are commonly offered in both interior mounted and profile varieties. While some no-mortise hinges are made of brass, they are often made of a more inexpensive material such as steel and then coated with a brass finish to cut costs.
