What is a Sealer

A sealer is a layer of protective coating. It can be applied to kitchen cabinets to extend the life of a cabinet. It is typically a polyurethane varnish finish that protects the cabinets by cutting down on wear and tear through the protective coat it provides. This helps keep cabinets looking new while extending the life of the cabinets. When you are applying polyurethane, for example, you are actually sealing the exterior of a cabinet in plastic. This is the protective coat that protects nicks and dings from adding up throughout your kitchen. Polyurethane sealer could be applied to an unfinished wood or also directly onto painted surfaces as well. Sealers are available in low-gloss or high-gloss finishes and are relatively easy to apply.
