What is a Pin Hinge

A pin hinge is a type of hinge designed to rotate about a vertical axis maintained by a pin (as opposed to something like a pivot hinge which rotates about a single point). Commonly found in cabinetry products, pin and barrel hinges are commonly found in exterior and interior doors. Most likely, the doors in your home use a pin and barrel hinge. The main difference between pin and barrel hinges used in full-sized doors is that the pin can often be removed. On cabinets, the pin is much smaller and can easily bend if left exposed.
