What is a Peninsula

As opposed to an island which is surrounded by "water" on all sides, a peninsula is surrounded by three. Thus, in the world of cabinetry, a peninsula refers to an extended counter area that is butted against the end of a cabinet or wall. Peninsulas are very popular in G and J shaped kitchen floor plans.

Peninsulas are a great way to increase base cabinet storage space and countertop space while making a bold decorative statement. Peninsulas can be used as separate cooking areas, storage for pots and pans, and a prep table.
