What is a Jigsaw

A jigsaw is a type of powered saw designed for cutting nonlinear shapes, and edges, making it very useful for cabinetry and furniture building. A jigsaw utilizes a trigger which controls the cutting speed of the blade. Jigsaws can be used for simple, straight line cuts, but are better served for intricate curves and shapes. Jigsaws can cut a variety of materials including wood and metal depending on the type of blade you're using. Most jigsaws will allow you to switch the blade to a different type to accommodate the material you are working with. Since jigsaw blades are relatively thin, they bend and break easily. Add the intense vibrating movement from the jigsaw, and it's easy to understand why inexperienced users often make mistakes when learning to use a jigsaw. Use caution when using any power tool, especially a jigsaw!
