Closet Organization and Storage Solutions By Lily Ann Cabinets
Have you ever felt frustrated, overwhelmed, and completely lost in the clutter of your home? Chances are, your mind is too.

Studies have shown that cleanliness and clutter in the home do impact our stress levels. This means that living in a cluttered environment increases our stress levels and affects our ability to focus, producing negative emotions rather than the positive ones associated with cleanliness and order.
And we don’t want that much baggage weighing us down.
We want to come home to a spotless home, not a “sparkless” one with spaces that clearly do not “spark joy.”
Not only can having clutter-free spaces be good for your home, but they can also do wonders for your mental health and overall well-being! The act of cleaning and decluttering produces a calming effect on us. Going clutter-free therefore helps us regain and assert some semblance of control over our already cluttered lives.
Our goal here is to always feel in control of our surroundings.
So, where do we begin? How can we regain control of our surroundings? Well, you can always start small at home, and inside something as deeply personal to us: our very own closets.
The Cost of Closet Organization

While we don’t have to be runway-ready all the time, having a clean, organized closet to walk in and out of from Monday to Sunday helps us feel runway-ready. And for a lot of us, that is enough. With the right closet organizers installed, you don’t have to do it alone either.
According to HomeAdvisor, closet organizer installation usually costs between $627 and $2,527, with an average price of $1,543. While pricing depends on the scope of your project, you might spend around $150 for a small organizer to $5,000 for a high-end overhaul. There are also several factors to consider that influence its total cost.
Number and Size
| Number of Closet | Average Cost |
| 1 | $100–$200 |
| 2 | $150–$250 |
| 3 | $175–$300 |
| 4 | $200–$350 |

Pricing increases for every closet added or larger closet space needed. For DIY installations, this might not be the case, but for professional installations, it is, so you have to plan before booking. A full walk-in closet definitely costs more than a simple reach-in closet with a hanging rod and a shelf.
| Closet Size | Average Cost |
| Small 4-foot standalone | $100-$150 |
| Standard 6-foot reach-in | $125-$200 |
| Small 4-foot x 8-foot walk-in | $150-$250 |
| Large 7-foot x 9-foot walk-in | $200-$300 |

Closet Types
While prefab closet kits arguably cost less, they may not last as long as custom wood systems, since they’re usually made from lower-grade medium-density fiberboard (MDF) with laminate coating, and as the word suggests, aren’t customizable.
Custom closet systems can cost from a basic unit worth $150 with wire or plastic inserts up to $5000, for a large, high-end installation.
Material Choice
The cost of these closet organizers also depends on the materials it's made of. If you’re looking for cost-effective, easy-to-install, and highly customizable materials, you go for closet organizers made of wire or plastic.
While metal closet organizers are a bit more durable than both, they’re not as durable as those made of wood and laminate. They’re more expensive than those made of wire, plastic, or metal and less customizable, but look better and are better in terms of durability.

All closets by Lily Ann Cabinets are made of engineered wood.
Add-Ons and Upgrades
Adding closet lighting and closet door replacements to improve the look and functionality of your closet carries additional costs. Baskets and storage bins, hanging rods, tie and shoe racks are closet accessories that help you organize items by grouping them together.
Labor
Of course, you can also hire professionals to help you organize and install your closet systems. Labor costs depend on the professional you hire and where you’re located. As HomeAdvisor reports, handypersons can charge from $50 to $100 per hour, while carpenters: $70 to $120 per hour for custom builds, and professional closet installers: $60 to $200 per hour or offer a flat fee for their services.
To be honest, you will only consider these labor costs if you’re hiring a pro installer, but if you’re going for a DIY approach, then the costs can go significantly lower.
